Rotary is a worldwide organization of business professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps to build goodwill and peace in the world.

Paul  Harris a lawyer, was the founder of Rotary, the world’s first International Service Club. On 23rd Feb 1905, Paul.Percivel Harris formed the first club with three of his clients. Silverster Schiele,a Coal merchant, Gustavus Lochr, a mining engineer,and Hiram Schorey, a merchant tailor

ORIGIN OF OUR CLUB:

Tradition never change they merely are more or less enhanced. This was seen in the numerous activities of the Rotaract club of our college, which intends to expose the students’ talent and scale greater heights in its services to the community.

The club was installed in the year 2000 in the midst of Rtn.S.Thanaraj President (2000), Rotary club of Perambalur preside over the installation, Rtn.K.Ravindrakumar DRC (2000) Rtr. PP.Jaiganesh DRR (2000) Karur and Rtn.PP.Dr.Varadharajan Chairman of Rover Educational Instiitutions were the chief guests.

Since its inception Rotaract Club of Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan College of Arts and Science for women is witnessing memorable events with its shelves filled with bunch of appreciations and blessings. The total strength of our club is 400 Rotaractors(2010-2011).

 

Highlights:

         •    Received Presidential citation award and World Rotaract week celebration  recognition pin from rotary international
         •    One of our student Rtr.RM.Rekha has been elected as District Rotaract Representative for the year 2010-2011. She was the first college based rotaractor and first lady rotaractor selected for the post.

 

MAJOR EVENTS OF THE CLUB

        •    Organize the Personality Development Programme.
        •    Organize the Awareness Programme to rotaractors and nearest Village People.
        •    Arrange Blood donation camp, Eye Camp, Health Camp etc., to the village people.
        •    Donate the Educational aids and sports kit to the needy children’s.
        •    Host one district event for every year.
        •    Organize women empowerment project.
        •    Participate Pulse Polio Camp every year.
        •    To donate TRF fund to Rotary international for the purpose of irradiate the polio in the world.
        •    To host GSE visit and IDYE team.
        •    To celebrate WRWC every year.
        •    To organize Entrepreneurial Development programme.
        •    To organize LEND YOUR HAND project(Donation of Educational Aids, Dresses, Foot wares)

On 19th June 2010 Election of the Office Bearers for the Academic year
2010-2011 took place. Rtr.A.Punithavathy of III BCA was elected as the President
and Rtr.R.Rajeshwari of IIIBCA was elected as the Secretary.

On 30th June the 11th Installation of the club took place.
Rtn.PHF.J.Aravindhan, the President, Rotary club of Perambalur was invited as
the chief guest and Rtr.R.M.Rekha(DRR,R.I.Dist.3000) was invited as the Guest of Honour.

On 10th July COBTS (Club office bearers training seminar) was organized
along with the Rotaract club of Srinivasan college of Arts and Science.

On 8th August 2010 our club released Global warming project along with
the Rotaract club of Srinivasan college of Arts and Science

On 15th August 2010, ten of our college rotaractors attended the
64th Independence Day celebration held at Gowthama Buddha Deaf and Dumb School,
Perambalur and our rotaractors donated the note books to the deaf and dumb
students of the Gowthama Buddha School, Perambalur.. The total cost of the
project Rs.1500. This donation kits include Notebook, pencil, pen, eraser, geometric boxes, etc

On 8th Sep our Club organized Environmental Awareness Programme.along with
other part IV Units of our college at Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Higher Secondary school.

On 23rd September 100 Rotaractors participated in the blood donation
awareness rally at perambalur.

On 26th Sep District leadership Training Seminar was held at
Srinivasan Engineering College. In that our Rotaractors organised game show and
through that we collected Rs.2500 and donated it to The Rotary District Governor
towards pulse polio fund raising project. On that day our management donated
Rs.10, 000 to this project.

On 22nd October our Club organised LEND YOUR HAND PROJECT at
Vidhyashramam Residential School(HIV+ve home ),Senjeri. In that we donated
Dresses,Educational Aids (Note books,pen, pencil,eraser,scale, Foot wear ,etc)
to the students.

On 29th December, the Fresher’s Orientation Programme was held at our
college Auditorium. Rtr.RM.Rekha, District Rotaract Representative was invited as the trainer.

23 Jan 2011 our Club Chairman Rtr.Pavithra IIBA English had attended
Pulse Polio camp held at Moulana School booth in Perambalur

On 26th to 30th January seven of our Rotaracters had attended
Multi District RYLA held at Hill Country Hotel in Kodaikanal.

On 3.2.20ll our club official visit was held. In that Rtr.RM.Rekha District
Rotaract Representative and her core team was invited.

Our rotaract club hosted Rotaract District Conference along with
Rotaract District Organisation in Kodaikanal on 5th and 6th Feb 2011.


Highlight:

Rtr.Rekha.RM our club Past President was selected as a DRR for the year 2010-2011. She was the first lady DRR and first DRR from the college based Rotaract Club in R.I.Dist. 3000.
